Nikkei 225
The Nikkei 225 is the Japanese benchmark index following the performance of 225 firms listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. If a trader, investor, or market commentator wishes to gain a snapshot into East Asian market activity they will typically use a combination of the Nikkei 225, the Hang Seng, and Nifty 50, indicating performance across the three largest regional economies. Some of the most recognisable constituents of the Nikkei are the finance and investment giant SoftBank Group (¥9984), car manufacturer Toyota (¥7203) and the tech conglomerate Sony (¥6758).
The price of the Nikkei 225 can be found under the ticker N225, and one of the largest US listed ETFs is the iShares Nikkei 225 UCITS ($CNKY).
